Born in 1967 in Rize / Pazar, Mahmut Asmalı completed his primary, secondary and high school education in Istanbul and his university education at Karadeniz Technical University, Department of Civil Engineering in 1989. Asmalı was awarded the ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ award in 2009 by the Turkish Economic and Business Ethics Association (IGİAD) for his successful works.
Taking an active role in non-governmental organisations, Asmalı is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Entrepreneurial Businessmen Foundation (GİV), the Economic Enterprise and Business Ethics Association (İGİAD) and the Istanbul Chamber of Civil Engineers (İMO), and carries out social responsibility activities as the Founding Vice Chairman of the AKYUVA Foundation, which carries out activities for orphan children and disadvantaged families.
Mahmut Asmalı has been a member of the MUSIAD family for many years and has served in many different positions. Asmalı served as the Chairman of the Construction Sector Board between 2009-2011, as a Member of the Board of Directors of MÜSİAD between 2013-2017, as the Deputy Chairman of MÜSİAD between 2017-2019 and as the Chairman of MÜSİAD Karz-ı Hasen Fund between 2019-2021. Asmalı was elected as the General President at the 26th Ordinary General Assembly of MÜSİAD held in September 2021.
