With the transfer of Bağlarbaşı Retail Marketing Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School to MUSIAD, the MUSIAD Retail Sector Board has begun work on making the school a project school in order to revise the curriculum system according to the conditions of the future. In addition, MUSIAD aims to continue its cooperation with the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of National Education on various issues related to vocational high schools and to organize meetings that bring together the leading figures of the sector and students every week as much as possible. In addition, MUSIAD has adopted the mission of pioneering other sector boards and other civil society organizations operating within the institution for opening similar schools.

In addition, MUSIAD is also working with the leading civil society organizations of the sector such as the United Brands Association (BMD) and the Durable Consumer Goods and White Goods Retailers Association (BEYPER) in addition to the Provincial Directorate of National Education. From time to time, we come together with the managers of these civil society organizations and exchange ideas. Project implementation classes in the shopping mall concept are being prepared by companies such as Armine, Gencallar, Karaca Glassware.

Goals:

• To be a pioneer in the high-quality education that Turkey needs as MÜSİAD

• To raise values that are necessary and sought for the business world

• To provide quality education that can be an alternative to universities

• To ensure that education conditions are always at a contemporary level

• To ensure that MÜSİAD is an example for other civil society organizations and various institutions, to inspire them

Today, with the developing technology, there are developments and innovations in various professions. In addition to the necessity of an integrated education system with technological developments, the increase in the need for quality labor has made vocational and technical education mandatory today. The Istanbul Provincial Directorate of National Education has also implemented a project on this subject.

The Project is Employment-Focused

Within the scope of the “Thematic Vocational and Technical Anatolian High Schools” project implemented by the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of National Education, meetings were held with various institutions and organizations such as the Istanbul Chamber of Industry, the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce and the Independent Industrialists and Businessmen’s Association. Following these meetings, it was determined that there was a need for brand schools specialized in a single field. Following the meetings with sector representatives, the framework of the project was determined and the opportunity to open a thematic vocational high school for a single sector emerged. 18 thematic high schools, 7 of which are in Istanbul, were opened to provide education in this way throughout Turkey.

With this project, both schools’ access to information and technology and sector representatives’ sharing of experience in the relevant high schools are ensured. In addition, employment opportunities are provided to students graduating from these high schools that are in close contact with the sectors. This project, which is an employment-focused study, also paves the way for sectors to create infrastructure in terms of human resources.

In addition to its work for students in the Department of Retail and Marketing, MÜSİAD also supported the School Industry Collaboration Model project of Istanbul Provincial Director of National Education Deputy Serkan Gür. Later, when Istanbul Provincial Director of National Education Ömer Faruk Yelkenci developed the School Industry Collaboration Model with the Thematic High School Project, considering the importance of vocational high schools in the development of Turkey, MÜSİAD also decided to take part in this study. Thus, MÜSİAD signed a protocol with the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of National Education. With this protocol, Bağlarbaşı Retail Marketing Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School was transferred to MÜSİAD.
