On July 15th, our nation saved not only our democracy but also the Turkish economy.

On the sixth anniversary of July 15th, we condemn the FETÖ coup attempt, its domestic and foreign collaborators, and its national and international supporters. We commemorate with mercy and gratitude our cherished martyrs who wrote a historic epic of resistance and resurrection against this treacherous coup attempt, and we wish our heroic veterans good health and long life. We wholeheartedly congratulate our noble nation, of which we are proud to be a member, for courageously defending the national will and democracy. We express our gratitude to our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who led the struggle for independence against putschists and invaders.

On this occasion, as MÜSİAD, we reiterate that we always stand with democracy and the national will at all costs, and that we will fight against all coups and coup attempts in the future, as we have in the past.

One of the objectives of all coups, whether military or civilian, without exception, is the transfer of resources, wealth, and income. In this sense, the target on July 15th was the Turkish economy, which had paid off its debt to the IMF in 2013, achieved positive growth for 27 quarters, achieved stable financial and fiscal discipline, and was preparing to implement numerous major projects.

Although markets returned to normal functioning thanks to the successful policies implemented by the economic administration immediately after July 15th, this treacherous coup attempt undoubtedly had significant costs. Initial estimates indicate that this cost, estimated at approximately 300 billion lira, is even higher when its impact on sub-sectors is taken into account. Considering the current size of our economy, the cost of the treacherous coup attempt has not overshadowed the financial gains achieved over the past 20 years. In this context, our nation, which stood by its will on July 15th, saved not only our democracy but also the Turkish economy. Had the coup attempt succeeded, a dark period would undoubtedly have begun for Türkiye in many respects.

As our Republic enters a new era of revival on its centennial, we reiterate our commitment to upholding the memory of our cherished martyrs and heroic veterans who sacrificed their lives to save our country from putschists and invaders, and to safeguard their legacy. As MÜSİAD, we will continue to fight against all obstacles to a prosperous, independent, developed, and democratic Turkey. We will not forget the treacherous coup attempt and the July 15th Epic of National Will, and we will not allow them to be forgotten.

Respectfully announced to the public.
