Chairman Kaan made statements regarding the support to be offered to SMEs.

Abdurrahman Kaan, Chairman of the Independent Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (MÜSİAD), made a written assessment of the support package announced by Treasury and Finance Minister Berat Albayrak for SMEs and businesses.

In his statement, Kaan stated the following:

As in the past, the Turkish economy will continue to rise on the shoulders of our SMEs, which account for 55% of gross investments, 73% of total employment, 62% of total turnover, and 55% of total exports. The productivity and dynamism of our SMEs will be achieved by resolving the financing challenges faced by businesses of this size. In this context, we believe that the 25 billion TL support to be provided to our SMEs, guaranteed by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance and with the participation of numerous banks, will be a lifeline for the Turkish economy.

By reducing the financial burden on our SMEs; We believe that new investments, which decreased by 13% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2019, will regain momentum and that the unemployment rate, which reached 14.7% as of February, will be reduced to much more reasonable levels. Furthermore, with the rise in consumer prices, which we anticipate will be much lower than its current level by the last quarter of the year, indexing the cost of loans provided to SMEs to inflation will create a significant advantage for businesses benefiting from these supports.

On this occasion, we reiterate that we, as MÜSİAD, will support every opportunity provided to our SMEs, who constitute a significant portion of our members, consistently produce, create added value, and persistently continue their journey regardless of the risks inherent in the current capital system.
