CHAIRMAN KAAN: WE WILL PROCEED WITH RESULT-FOCUSED ACTION PLANS

Abdurrahman Kaan, Chairman of the Independent Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (MÜSİAD), issued a written statement following the Investment Environment Improvement Coordination Board (YOİKK) meeting held today.

In his statement, Kaan noted the following:

Turkey has attracted $217 billion in foreign investment over the last 17 years, rising from 61st to 43rd in the world rankings. This is encouraging and positive data for the new era.

The reform process that began after the transition to the Presidential System of Government is crucial for determining investment policy.

The meeting was highly productive and yielded results-oriented outcomes. New plans were discussed at the meeting to determine the investment roadmap, and it was decided to form working groups and move forward with concrete steps. Therefore, it was decided to work on draft action plans and hold the next meeting one month later. A working system was adopted within one month, in which all stakeholders participating in the YOİKK will work together. It was decided to work within the framework of the 11th Development Plan and in a way that would impact it. The logic of synchronized action plans, particularly aimed at supporting investments from abroad, was deemed positive.

It was assessed that working within a well-defined and results-oriented system focused on solutions would be productive. It was emphasized that both incentive systems and project-based efforts should be considered, bearing in mind the fact that Turkey will operate in a fiercely competitive environment when it comes to attracting investment. The positive climate created by the reform processes and the 4.5-year uninterrupted management process provide a highly encouraging and moderate environment for investment planning. The inclusion of regulations that will pave the way for the investment planning and implementation processes, which will conclude in November after one-month meetings, is also a significant development.
