Ali Gökhan Er, Chairman of the Workforce Planning and Vocational Education Committee of the Independent Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (MÜSİAD), issued a written statement regarding the importance of vocational high schools, the advantages offered by choosing them, and the upcoming activities MÜSİAD will undertake in the field of education.
In his statement, Gökhan Er stated the following:
Vocational and technical education is vital for increasing the qualified workforce, increasing the number of qualified personnel serving in industrial organizations, and meeting the need for intermediate personnel.
Since its founding, MÜSİAD has placed great emphasis on vocational and technical education activities. It has developed numerous projects to bring together vocational high schools and industry representatives, undertaking significant initiatives in this regard.
MÜSİAD has made significant progress in the "Thematic High School" program, one of the most important steps in vocational education. Within a short time, it opened the MÜSİAD Marketing and Retail Vocational High School and the MÜSİAD Furniture and Design Department at Kartal Atalar Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School.
With the changing and transforming nature of Turkey, MÜSİAD has also entered a period of renewal. The MÜSİAD Workforce Planning and Vocational Education Committee, established within the institution, has placed a special emphasis on vocational education.
The Committee's Goals:
To connect the sector with the required qualified personnel,
To ensure continuous contact between vocational high schools and the sector,
To support the Ministry of National Education in developing current curricula by being integrated into the system during curriculum development,
To increase the effectiveness of Revolving Fund (DÖSE) activities in vocational high schools through the "Producing Schools" project,
To contribute to the professional and personal development of teachers,
To contribute to the academic and professional development of students by enabling them to receive training/seminars at various enterprises.
Advantages of Choosing a Vocational High School
Students graduating from secondary school need to lay a solid foundation now to build a bright future. In this regard, choosing vocational high schools is crucial.
Today, there is a prejudice against vocational high schools, especially among parents. For vocational high schools to achieve the value they deserve, it is crucial to overcome this prejudice.
Two distinct programs are offered in vocational high schools: the Anatolian Vocational Program and the Anatolian Technical Program. The Anatolian Vocational Program was established to meet the sector's need for intermediate personnel, while the Anatolian Technical Program provides students with vocational training as well as higher education.
Vocational high schools offer students many advantages. Students are eligible for early social security coverage while still in their education.
Vocational high school students take the first step toward their professional careers through the courses they take at school, and through the internship opportunities they provide, they can learn their professions in the workplace. They can also make a significant contribution to the family economy.
Public institutions and organizations prioritize vocational high school graduates when hiring personnel.
Students who specialize in a profession during their academic years are able to find jobs more quickly and more easily upon graduation than students attending regular high schools. Furthermore, upon graduating from vocational high schools, students receive a Business Opening Certificate in addition to their diploma.
Vocational high schools will play a significant role in both our students' professional and academic career planning. In this context, we believe that choosing vocational high schools would be much more beneficial for our students currently making their high school choices and encourage them to do so.
