Abdurrahman Kaan, President of the Independent Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (MÜSİAD), issued a written statement on the occasion of July 15th Democracy and National Unity Day. In his statement, President Kaan stated, "We will not allow July 15th or the treachery committed to be forgotten," emphasizing the importance of the ongoing struggle.

In his statement, Chairman Kaan stated:

July 15, 2016, is the glorious date of the struggle we waged for every Turkish citizen, as a nation, when we thwarted a treacherous attempt that aimed to write a dark page for our country. It is a manifestation of our prioritization of freedom, patriotism, democracy, and national honor above all else.

On that dark night, when everyone—old and young, women and men—stood against the traitors who murdered democracy with great anger, our nation once again demonstrated its passion for democracy and taught the world a lesson in unity and solidarity. As MÜSİAD, we immediately reacted to the coup attempt. While many NGOs were still struggling to determine the outcome, we clearly expressed our stance against this treacherous uprising that evening and fought against the coup plotters in the fields.

We explained the treachery our nation faced at every point we were present, both at home and abroad. We exposed the injustice, conspiracies, and destructive plans to the fullest extent of our ability, and we worked tirelessly to raise public awareness in this direction.

All our branches and representatives in 89 locations in Turkey and 225 locations abroad, across 95 countries, actively supported these efforts through their own efforts. We are conducting communication activities in all our countries to accurately and clearly convey the events of that night to the public.

Furthermore, we created content and prepared books and informative publications to ensure that the night of July 15th and its aftermath were passed on to future generations.

Among these are the book "July 15th in Western Media," prepared by our MÜSİAD US Branch, which reveals the Western perspective, and "Who Will Stop Us?", published by Erdem Publications with the support of MÜSİAD, which explains the coup attempt in a simple and effective way that children can understand.

We also included detailed news, analysis, and reviews in supplementary editions of our MÜSİAD Frame magazine, examining every aspect of the coup attempt and outlining our stance as MÜSİAD.

In addition, we signed a cooperation protocol with the July 15th Association to strengthen our close collaboration and implement joint projects, organizing joint programs.

Throughout this process, our Young MÜSİAD and MÜSİAD WOMEN organizations are also involved, conducting awareness-raising activities for young people and women in the business world.

We Will Not Forget July 15th, Nor the Treachery Perpetrated, Nor Will We Let It Be Forgotten

Even if it remains unspoken, we know that the powerful struggle for democracy waged by the Turkish people on the night of July 15th has been etched in the pages of history as an example of unity that the entire world envies and takes as an example.

FETÖ members, clustered at various levels of government, especially the Turkish Armed Forces, are being eliminated as a result of operations meticulously conducted by our state. We witness that our state's struggle in this area has continued resolutely, without interruption, from day one.

May God never again allow us, this heavenly homeland, to experience such treacherous attempts, such tragic days and nights orchestrated by tainted hands. We will not forget the oppression that night, nor the treacherous coup attempt, nor will we let them be forgotten.

On this occasion, I offer my condolences to our martyrs who risked their lives on July 15th, defending their homeland. I offer my deepest gratitude to our veterans who will forever bear the sorrowful scars of that night, and to each and every one of our brothers and sisters who took to the streets to defend their homeland without a moment's hesitation or hiding behind any excuse.

On the anniversary of the epic story written by our nation, I celebrate July 15th, Democracy and National Unity Day.
