Müge Öz, Chair of the Women's Committee of the Independent Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (MÜSİAD), issued a written statement regarding discriminatory remarks made by a journalist about our headscarved teachers on a TV channel regarding the Distance Learning program launched by our Ministry of National Education.
In her statement, Öz stated the following:
In a time when social peace and tranquility are achieved like never before, not a day goes by without the seeds of discord and discrimination being sown among brothers and sisters!
While the Distance Learning program launched by our Ministry of National Education should be commended and supported, unfortunately, comments are being made based on our teachers' attire, and attempts are being made to turn our headscarved teachers into a polemic, in violation of democracy and human rights.
We have full confidence that the rhetoric of this moss-grown mentality will not resonate with our nation today, as it has in the past. As MÜSİAD Women, we strongly emphasize that this and similar publications should not be trusted, as we are going through a critical period as a nation and need unity and solidarity more than ever before. On this occasion, we declare once again that you can never harm our brotherhood, our unity, and our consciousness of being a nation with your hateful and discriminatory statements.
