Müge Öz, Chair of the MÜSİAD Women's Committee, issued a written statement on November 25th, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
Öz's statement is as follows:
Despite the awareness raised in national and international public opinion and the gains made in recent years, violence against women continues to be one of the greatest social ills worldwide.
The violence faced by women from all segments of society, regardless of education or income level, in all areas of social life, not only causes individual devastation for the women subjected to violence, but also has a complex pattern of economic, psychological, and social consequences. Therefore, reducing the fight against violence against women to women subjected to violence, or even to women alone, means abandoning women and ignoring the long-term problems that arise. Resolving these problems before they become gangrenous and achieving absolute, sustainable peace and social equality in society is of utmost importance. Combating violence against women is not a problem for just one of us, but for all of us, and solving this problem is the responsibility of all of us.
With these feelings and wishes; We hope that November 25th, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, will raise awareness about building happy individuals, harmonious families, and a prosperous society.
As MÜSİAD Women, we would like to express our unwavering commitment to working to end violence against women.
