MÜSİAD KAHRAMANMARAS IS BUILDING A 2000-HOUSE CONTAINER CITY IN ELBİSTAN

Following the severe earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş, MÜSİAD is actively participating in the disaster area with logistics and humanitarian aid activities. MÜSİAD President Mahmut Asmalı stated that they urgently dispatched essential food, shelter, and search and rescue equipment to the disaster area, and that MÜSİAD will establish a container city in Kahramanmaraş for the earthquake-affected citizens.

Following the earthquakes, which caused widespread destruction in 10 provinces centered in Kahramanmaraş, the Independent Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (MÜSİAD) quickly deployed all its resources, including domestic and international organizations, to the disaster area. In a statement, MÜSİAD announced that in addition to providing in-kind aid for earthquake victims, a Container City will also be established in the region with the permission of the Ministry of Interior and under the coordination of AFAD.

Since the earthquake, MÜSİAD has shipped more than 2,000 items to the disaster area. The organization has provided 500,000 ready-made food items, 800,000 loaves of bread, over 4,200,000 bottles of water, nearly 65,000 coats and boots, over 150,000 blankets, and 200 caravans to the victims. MÜSİAD volunteers, arriving in the disaster areas from across the country, continue their work without slowing down. "We Stand Together for Our Nation"

MÜSİAD President Mahmut Asmalı commented on the matter: "Field kitchens established in 10 provinces, through the coordination and task sharing established by MÜSİAD's domestic branches, are providing uninterrupted hot meals to our citizens affected by the earthquake. Our volunteer teams are also providing food and basic necessities to our citizens in the earthquake-affected villages and neighborhoods. We are gathering basic food and basic necessities procured from facilities and warehouses across the country at our logistics centers in the disaster area and immediately shipping them to the affected areas. We have begun work to establish a field hospital in the disaster area."

President Asmalı noted that international organizations are also contributing wholeheartedly to this effort, emphasizing the full coordination between MÜSİAD branches and members around the world. He added that truck convoys loaded with generators, patient beds, wheelchairs, blankets, heaters, and basic necessities, prepared with the contributions and coordination of its international members, are departing from various locations abroad to transport them to the disaster area.

MÜSİAD President Mahmut Asmalı, in his statement, reminded the public that they supported search and rescue efforts in the disaster area with numerous pieces of construction equipment. He said, "Today is a day of unity. We will heal our wounds together and rise together. We stand shoulder to shoulder with all our organizations for our country, we stand together for our nation."

A Container City with 2,000 Container Houses is Being Built in Elbistan, Kahramanmaraş

Furthermore, MÜSİAD announced that a fully furnished Container City, consisting of 2,000 container houses, will be built in the Elbistan region of Kahramanmaraş, with permission from the Ministry of Interior and coordination with AFAD (Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency).

MÜSİAD announced that work has begun on the container houses to meet the housing needs of our citizens before permanent earthquake housing is built. They have opened a separate donation account and invited those who wish to contribute to this fundraising campaign. The houses in the Container City are designed to be 21 square meters and include a kitchen, bathroom, and toilet. The houses will also include white goods, sofas, tables, kitchenware, and heating systems. The container city will also include infrastructure and landscaping, a health center, a nursery, a prayer room, administrative and service buildings.

The statement read, "As we have for 33 years, MUSIAD will continue to be present wherever our country needs us, embracing the principle of 'One and Together.' We will share our nation's sorrow and joy together."

Preparing 5,000 hygiene kits for women in earthquake-stricken areas

MÜSİAD Women, continuing its work under MÜSİAD, has also taken action for women affected by the earthquake in the disaster area.

The MÜSİAD Women's group, which has prepared special hygiene kits for women, in addition to essential items and shelter, announced on its social media account, "With the esteemed ladies of our MÜSİAD family, we are preparing 5,000 essential feminine hygiene kits for women in the disaster area following the earthquake disaster centered in Kahramanmaraş. We will always stand by our women, 'United and Together,' and we will overcome these difficult times together."

Following the VAT reduction published as a Presidential Decree in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Turkey dated February 14, 2023, the prices have changed as follows. In-kind donations also contribute to the reduction in prices.
