MÜSİAD President Mahmut Asmalı issued a written statement regarding the new minimum wage announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. President Asmalı stated that MÜSİAD welcomed the increase, saying, "As MÜSİAD, we welcome the increase to 5,500 TL net as of the second half of the year." MÜSİAD President Asmalı stated the following in his statement:
"The minimum wage, which rose to a net 4,253.40 TL with the 50 percent increase implemented in December last year, unfortunately became insufficient to protect the purchasing power of our employees due to high inflation. In this context, we welcome the 30 percent increase, which will raise the minimum wage to a net 5,500 TL as of the second half of the year.
As MÜSİAD, we have stated that an interim increase in the minimum wage is essential to ensure that not a single employee's hard work is crushed by inflation. On this point, we extend our gratitude to our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and to all economic authorities who have not been indifferent to the demands of the business world.
Furthermore, the continuation of the tax exemption for the minimum wage, along with the 100 TL support provided to employers per worker, will relieve a significant burden on our employers. As representatives of the real sector, we hope that the new minimum wage will be beneficial for both employees and employers." We hope and believe that it will make serious contributions to the positive growth process of our economy.”
