MÜSİAD and TÜRES will support food and beverage sector workers facing difficulties due to the pandemic with food and beverage packages.

The Independent Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (MÜSİAD) and the All Restaurants and Tourism Association (TÜRES) signed a cooperation protocol to provide food and beverage sector workers with food and beverage packages. Under this protocol, a number of food packages, determined by MÜSİAD, will be distributed by TÜRES to workers in need identified by TÜRES.

The protocol ceremony was held with the participation of MÜSİAD President Abdurrahman Kaan and TÜRES President Ramazan Bingöl.

We must seize every opportunity to reach those in need.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, MÜSİAD President Abdurrahman Kaan stated that, like many other sectors, companies and workers in the food and beverage sector are facing a difficult time due to the pandemic. Kaan continued: “We aim to expand the food aid project we launched to meet at least some of the needs of our brothers and sisters working in the food and beverage sector who are struggling financially due to workplace closures, and to reach as many people in need as possible. Until we overcome this challenging period, we believe that every opportunity should be taken by those with the means to help our citizens in need. As MÜSİAD, we have seen that the many campaigns we have run since the beginning of this process have provided some respite to those in need. We will continue to provide similar aid through our members and friends. We believe that we can only overcome this period by working together as a united force. We consider the food aid support project we have implemented in collaboration with TÜRES extremely valuable in this context and hope that it will further expand and become widespread, setting an example for other NGOs.”

We call on food and beverage sector suppliers and other NGOs to support.

TÜRES President Ramazan Bingöl stated: The food and beverage sector has undoubtedly been negatively impacted the most by the pandemic. Therefore, it needs support to survive. Both employers and employees in the sector have been unable to earn a decent income for almost a year. Through our collaboration with MÜSİAD (Ministry of National Education), we will at least ensure that employees are supported with food parcels. This support will certainly not alleviate the difficulties faced by this struggling sector, but it will at least provide relief. I reiterate that we call on companies and other NGOs working with our sector in the supply chain to support our sector. We must keep the food and beverage sector afloat with support. If we cannot minimize the damage caused by this period, this will also impact the national economy. Considering these realities, I thank MÜSİAD and our President, Mr. Abdurrahman Kaan, for the food parcels to be distributed and their cooperation.
