We will continue our efforts until the negative impact of the pandemic on our economy is eliminated.

MÜSİAD President Abdurrahman Kaan issued a written statement following the Expanded Financial Stability and Development Committee (FIKKO) meeting, chaired by Treasury and Finance Minister Berat Albayrak.

Kaan stated the following in his statement:

The extraordinarily devastating impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the global economy signals a period of unprecedented uncertainty. This period, which has caused significant contractions in both supply and demand, has now begun to be described as the "greatest economic shock in history." In this context, as representatives of the business world, we are working diligently to ensure that this crisis, which has severely impacted our country, is overcome with minimal damage for both producers and consumers. While we strive to maintain our production and service capacity and protect employment, thanks to the measures and incentives implemented by the economic administration, we are also continuing our efforts to seize potential opportunities in the post-crisis period.

With this in mind, we continue to serve as a bridge between field activities and policy work by relaying the problems, findings, and suggestions of our member businesses to the economic management through the Coronavirus Crisis Center we established. We have currently forwarded over 130 opinions, suggestions, and requests received by our Crisis Center to the relevant Ministries. We are also monitoring the implementation of the announced economic support packages in the field. In this context, we had the opportunity to convey our requests regarding the virus outbreak at the Expanded Financial Stability and Development Committee meeting, chaired by Minister Berat Albayrak and organized to encompass all economic actors. As MÜSİAD, we will continue to play an active role in all consultation mechanisms until the negative impact of the outbreak on our national economy is completely eliminated. On this occasion, we extend our gratitude to the economic management on behalf of all our sector representatives and reiterate our belief that with this spirit of unity and solidarity, we will more confidently achieve our macro and micro targets.
