NEW GENERATION CARAVAN PARKS ARE COMING

The COVID-19 pandemic, which affected the world and our country in 2020, is causing significant changes in our tourism habits. While the tourism sector, which has helped reduce our current account deficit and generated high revenues, hasn't reached the desired figures this year.

The MÜSİAD New Tourism Resources Development Committee is launching the Caravan Park Project with the belief that alternative tourism models will provide a solution to the revenue loss we are experiencing.

The main objective of this project is to develop healthy models to meet the travel, recreation, and holiday needs of domestic and foreign tourists under pandemic conditions, while paying attention to parameters such as hygiene, social distancing, and personal space.

Muhammet Ali Özeken, Chairman of the MÜSİAD New Tourism Resources Development Committee, stated that although caravan tourism is widespread worldwide, it has not yet received the desired level of response in our country. He summarized the project as follows:

“With the Caravan Park Project, which we established to create alternative markets for the tourism sector, which has contracted due to the impact of COVID-19, we aim to expand healthy and environmentally friendly caravan tourism through different routes in various provinces. We believe that, together with our stakeholders, members, and branches, the Caravan Park Project will contribute to national tourism and, through collaborations, contribute to foreign currency-generating activities.”

What is the Caravan Tourism Project?

Caravan tourism is not just a tourism activity; it is an alternative business model that will stimulate many local sub-sectors and accelerate regional development. The Caravan Park Project, supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and local governments, will be launched at the MÜSİAD EXPO fair from November 18-21.

The fair not only highlights the potential for alternative tourism but also brings together caravan tourism with other sectors, bringing together companies specializing in caravan manufacturing, camping equipment, caravan design, and the construction of physical spaces for caravan tourism. The project aims to create a new export area with its robust industrial infrastructure, including caravan manufacturing, spare parts, and design.
