MÜSİAD President Mahmut Asmalı commented on the 2021 growth figures.

MÜSİAD President Mahmut Asmalı issued a written statement regarding the 2021 GDP growth figures announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK). In his assessment, President Asmalı stated, "The 11% GDP growth rate is a testament to our well-deserved confidence in our national economy."

President Asmalı stated the following:

“As MÜSİAD, we have expressed our confidence in the Turkish economy even during periods when many organizations were making pessimistic forecasts and have stated at every opportunity that we expect a double-digit growth rate for 2021. In this context, the 11% GDP growth rate is not a surprise for us; it is a testament to our well-founded confidence in our national economy.

The Turkish economy, which achieved 9.1% growth in the last quarter of the year, continued to positively differentiate itself with its current manufacturing capacity and capabilities, solidifying its claim to be both a global and regional production hub.

The positive contribution of domestic demand, net foreign demand, and investments to growth in 2021 demonstrates that the Turkish economy achieved overall growth during this period. The 4.9 percentage point contribution of net foreign demand to growth, in particular, is a very positive development for the sustainability of growth.

Under the leadership of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Thanks to the New Economic Model implemented under the direction of our economic management, the Turkish economy will increase its position within the global economy in 2022 and grow above expectations in this period.”
