SANAYİ POLİTİKALARI VE YATIRIM KOMİSYONU BAŞKANI DR. ABDULLAH ERİŞ

FOLLOW US PRESIDENT

For Turkey to move from the status of a developing country to a higher level, it must manufacture technological products and increase its significant share in exports. One of the most strategic ways to achieve this is to focus on products that can generate added value through items within the country’s areas of specialization, and to support the necessary R&D efforts for their domestic production. As producers, we must adopt the principle of preserving public resources and push the limits of what we can achieve by turning the incentives of these institutions into opportunities.

In order to establish the transformation of our country’s industry, sector-based industrial policies must be kept constantly on the agenda, and efforts should be made to influence decision-makers in this direction. In addition, it is important to create a suitable ecosystem that will increase the effectiveness of these policies. To achieve this, we can identify the following as the main elements that will nourish technological transformation in industry: a systematic educational infrastructure, an industry vision centered on academia and science, effective bureaucracy, an inclusive institutional structure, and a consistent financial mechanism.

In this context, the Commission on Industrial Policies and Investment places among its main objectives the contribution to the production of qualified knowledge by preparing sector-specific research reports, analytical studies, expert evaluations, and briefing notes. To share these studies with the public and to create an agenda, the Commission also gives due importance to practical engagement missions such as launches, academic seminars and symposia, thematic meetings that bring the sector together, and business trips.
